# Umbral · Ofrenda de Humo

> Umbral is a small perfume house, Casa Umbral, house of the threshold. Ofrenda de Humo is its eau de parfum: an offering of smoke you can wear, a perfume of memory, told in nine essences. Their stories, not a formula.

Key facts:

- House: Umbral, also Casa Umbral. Umbral is Spanish for threshold. On many altars, a flowered arch marks that doorway.
- Perfume: Ofrenda de Humo, eau de parfum.
- Tradition: In the first days of November, many homes in Mexico lay marigold petals from the door to the altar, light candles and burn copal. Ofrenda de Humo follows that path in scent, from a green, bright opening to what stays warm on your skin.
- Beginning: A dream of Día de Muertos, a path of candlelight at night, marigolds along its edges, copal smoke, and a woman in calavera paint waiting at the altar.
- Care: The tradition that moves the house is Mexican, so it tries to tell it with care and keep learning from the people who hold it.

The nine essences, in the order they unfold:

- I The path: Marigold (opens)
- II The living heart: Tuberose, magnolia (heart)
- III The smoke and depth: Copal (smoke), cacao and benzoin (depth)
- IV What stays on the skin: Vanilla, warm wax, leather (close to the skin)
- Marigold: A green, bright flicker, like crushed leaves and green apple. The altar flower is native to Mexico. In perfume, only a trace of its cousins, or an accord.
- Copal: Pale resin that burns into a sweet white smoke, lighter than frankincense. Its smoke in a perfume is an accord.
- Leather: No oil comes from a hide. Every leather note in perfume is an accord.

How to wear it: Choose a moment that matters to you. Wear it on your wrists, at your throat and over your heart, and let the first bright notes open and fade as you walk.
